Type Locality and Naming

Column: Rutba Uplift (W Iraq), Damlouk and Mugur, Swab Mbrs

Synonym:


Lithology and Thickness

Damlouk and Mugur members: comprises thin-bedded clayey limestone with loaf-like chert nodules and laterally continuous chert beds. 30m thick at type section. Swab member: the lower part of the member is composed of thick to massive white recrystallized limestone with abundant patches of centimetric honey colored calcite. The upper part comprises thick nummulitic limestone, silicified in places, followed by thick-bedded soft fossiliferous limestone with silicified horizon containing phosphatic pellets and shells. 65m thick at Wadi Swab, and 35m thick near Nukhaib.
